EXPLORA HOTEL RAPA NUI
The new Explora Hotel on Easter Island has a completely organic architecture that blends into the landscape of the island. This recently opened Explora Hotel, the first in South America to gain certification as an ecological hotel has an internal décor that is designed to offer an intimate and welcoming ambient, but one that does not take away from the imposing landscape of the island. The building, designed by Josè Cruz Ovalle’s team of architects, strikes you with its sinuous and delicate form that as well as blending into the natural environment, mirrors the shape and simplicity of the island and reproduces its light and shade – its magic. A soave and almost imperceptible dark silhouette on the island’s coast, protected from the interior by a eucalyptus forest, the new Explora Hotel, “posada” de Mike Rapu, named in honour of one of its owners, is a hideaway in one of the most remote places on the planet.
Located in the south of the island, near to the legendary Rano Raraku Volcano, ancient building site of the mythical moai, and 8 Km from the village of Hanga Roa. A perfect location for explorers who want to relish the magic of the reddish dawns and return after the day’s excursion to a rural idyll, and a silence that is only broken by the sound of the waves.
The hotel, situated in the middle of nothing, melds into the landscape. The hotel with its principle to protect the environment, condition of its construction on this island that jealously guards its rich heritage – still little understood and largely unexplored. Made out of the local materials, the architecture of the hotel vibrates in tune with the light and shade of the island.
EASTER ISLAND
LOCATION
Easter Island is situated in the middle of the Pacific Ocean at a latitude of 27º09’ south and a longitude of 109º26’ east – 3,700 km from the coast of Chile.
Its extreme isolation – the nearest populated island is the island of Pitcairn - 1,900 km to the northeast - and its size – its longest point is only 24km and its widest 12km - make this a truly unique island to visit.
CLIMATE
Located south of the Tropic of Capricorn, Rapa Nui has a sub tropical maritime climate, affected by the winds and marine currents. Easter Island has a fantastic climate all year round. From January to March maximum daytime temperatures reach 28ºC (82ºF) and minimum temperatures drop to 21ºC (70ºF). From June to August the maximum daytime temperature reaches 21ºC (70ºF) and the minimum drops to 17ºC (63ºF). Rainfall is evenly distributed throughout the year.
ROOMS
The hotel has 30 rooms, 4 Raa suites, each 43.5 square metres and 26 Varúa rooms, each 31.7 square metres – all with sea views and hydro massage tubs.

THE EXCURSIONS
During you stay with Explora all the trips are included in the price and you can choose from a vast selection of activities and excursions, all accompanied by expert guides. Availability depends on weather conditions. Every day walks of varying levels of difficulty will take you to the most beautiful hidden spots on the Island. The walks include the Explora picnic – to be eaten sat on rocks, on the beach or in other mystical and magical locations.
Each day you will be able to choose from five or more different activities depending on weather conditions. No more than 8 people will go on each excursions and all excursions are accompanied by bilingual guides - with all the necessary equipment for the activity you have chosen provided by Explora.

Swimming costume, trainers or other comfortable shoes, walking boots, waterproof. Explora believes that elegance is a virtue.
