PROGRAM

Day 01 YOUR COUNTRY - SANTIAGO
Intercontinental flight to Chile (Flight not included in the program)

Day 02 WELCOME TO SANTIAGO
Morning pick-up from Santiago Airport. Transfer to the hotel with our English speaking guide. Free time. Take our ‘Visit Santiago’ Tour of the city, starting in the “Barrio” (quarter) El Golf, where you see examples of the city’s avant-garde architecture. After this you visit the Barrio Cívico which contains the government buildings and the cultural centre. From here you take a walk through the main streets of the city center towards the main square, “Plaza de Armas,” where you will be able to admire the splendor of the buildings that surround the square: La Catedral, El Correo, IIlustre Municipalidad de Santiago, etc. The tour then takes you to the Barrio Bella Vista, famous for its lively night life. Return and overnight stay at the 3 star Hotel.

Day 03 SANTIAGO - EASTER ISLAND
Breakfast at the hotel. Private transfer to the airport. Flight to Easter Island. Welcome at Rapa Nui Airport with garlands of flowers. Transfer to the 3 star Chez Joseph Hostel or a similar hostel of the same category. Rest of the day free. Overnight stay. (B)

Day 04 EASTER ISLAND
Group day trip. First stop is the Haga Te’e Bay on the south of the island – where you will see your first “Ahu” – one of the enormous stone platforms built to support the Moai. The Vaihu Ahu is an unrestored platform. The tour continues towards the Ahu Akahanga Region where legend has it that the famous King Hotu Matua is buried at one side of the Ahu. The tour takes in several other important cultural sites on the Island – for example Rano Raraku – where 900 statues have been sculpted – 397 of them lying horizontally on the ground. We will also visit the Tongariki Ahu, restored in 1995, a platform that holds 15 Moai. We then visit the “Ombligo del Mundo" (Belly button of the world), and the Te Pito Kura Ahu. Our final stop for the day is Anakena Beach and its two restored platforms, Ahu Nau Nau and Ahu Ature Huki. From this magical spot we can admire the waters of the Pacific Ocean and rest for a while in the shade of the palm trees. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at the 3 star Chez Joseph Hostel or a similar hostel of the same category. (B, PL)

Day 05 HANGA ROA - RANO KAU VOLCANO - ORONGO
Breakfast at the hotel. Group tour for half the day. The tour takes you up to Rano Kau, an extinct volcano from where you can take in the beauty of the whole Island: its coasts, its volcanoes and the village of Hanga Roa. We can also admire the volcano’s crater, with its lagoon. We then start to make our way back to the hotel, stopping off at the traditional ceremonial village of Orongo, where in the past they used to host the Tangata Manu (Bird Man) ceremony. We then visit the Vinapu Ahu with its pre-Incan style of architecture. The tour ends in the Ana Kai Tangata Cave where you can see some traditional rock paintings. Free activity afternoon – you can visit the village of Hanga Roa or take one of the optional tours (*): horse ride up to the Terevaka Volcano from where you can enjoy views of the whole island.   Overnight stay at the 3 star Chez Joseph Hostel or a similar hostel of the same category.(B)

Day 06 EASTER ISLAND - FREE ACTIVITY DAY
Breakfast at the hostel. Free activity day – or you can choose from some of the activities on offer on this stunning island: trekking, mountain biking, scuba diving, discovering the island independently with a rental jeep. (Activities to be paid directly – not included in the price of the program.) Overnight stay at the 3 star Chez Joseph Hostel or a similar hostel of the same category. (B)

Day 07 EASTER ISLAND - FREE ACTIVITY DAY
Breakfast at the hostel. Free activity day – or you can choose from some of the activities on offer on this stunning island: trekking, mountain biking, scuba diving, discovering the island independently with a rental jeep. (Activities to be paid directly – not included in the price of the program.) Overnight stay at the 3 star Chez Joseph Hostel or a similar hostel of the same category. (B)


OPTIONAL TOURS ON EASTER ISLAND

Scuba diving: The sea floor of this Island is a paradise for those who love diving. Scuba diving with all the equipment .
Rent a Jeep : Rent a Jeep, scooter or mountain bike. .
Horse-riding: Ride up to the top of the Maunga Terevaka Volcano.
Trekking : Various routes depending on interests and level of fitness for those who love walking.


Day 08 EASTER ISLAND - SANTIAGO
Private transfer to the airport. Flight to Santiago. Pick up and transfer to the 3 star Rio Bidasoa Hotel or a similar hotel of the same category. (B)

Day 09 SANTIAGO - CALAMA - SAN PEDRO DI ATACAMA
Transfer to the airport. Flight to Calama. Pick up at the airport and group transfer to the village of San Pedro de Atacama. Lunch free – not included in the price. Group tour that takes you to the Valley of Death where you can see the 3 Marias – strange rock formations that look as though they were man made carvings of three women – and then on to Moon Valley. We get to Moon Valley at dusk so that we can admire the marvelous sunset over the Great Dune, a landscape that truly makes you feel like you are seeing the surface of the moon. Return to San Pedro. Overnight stay at the 3 star Casa Don Tomás Hotel or a similar hotel of the same category. (B)

Day 10 SAN PEDRO - TATIO - PURITAMA - SAN PEDRO
Half day group tour. Morning departure to the Tatio Geysers (4,300 mt.) that are best seen at dawn – when their activity is greatest. We will breakfast while watching this incredible natural spectacle. The tour continues to the “Puritama” thermal baths where you can relax in the thermal waters in this extraordinary landscape. We get back to San Pedro at lunchtime. Overnight stay at the 3 star Casa Don Tomás Hotel or a similar hotel of the same category (B)

Day 11 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - FREE ACTIVITY DAY
Breakfast at the hotel. Free activity day. You can choose from a variety of activities that can be done in the area: horse-riding, trekking, mountain biking, sand-boarding, etc. Overnight stay at the 3 star Casa Don Tomás Hotel or a similar hotel of the same category. (B)

Day 12 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - FREE ACTIVITY DAY
Breakfast at the hotel. Fee activity day. You can choose from a variety of activities that can be done in the area: horse-riding, trekking, mountain biking, sand-boarding, etc. Overnight stay at the 3 star Casa Don Tomás Hotel or a similar hotel of the same category. (B)

Some of the treks on program:

1) Half day’s trek in the La Quebrada (Canyon) de Cari
2) Half day’s trek to Guatin / Punta del Inka / Valle Cactus
3) Full day’s trek to the Tara Salt Flats / Monjes de La Pacana

Or you could take the more conventional but still stunning - Tour to the “Las Lagunas Altiplánicas” - a tour of the highland lagoons.

Day 13 SAN PEDRO - CALAMA - SANTIAGO
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning free. We suggest a visit to the Gustavo la Paige Archaeological Museum, that hosts a collection that follows the evolution of man from 15,000 BC to the present day. Free lunch. Transfer to the airport. Flight to Santiago. Pick up from the airport and transfer to the 3 star Rio Bidasoa Hotel or a similar hotel of the same category. (B)

Day 14 SANTIAGO - FREE ACTIVITY DAY
Breakfast at the hotel. Optional full day tour to Valparaiso / Viña del Mar or rest of the day free; we will give you some advice about how to best use your time – whether it is shopping, culture or relax you are after. Overnight stay at the 3 star Rio Bidasoa Hotel or a similar hotel of the same category. (B)

Optional tour: In the early evening the tour leaves for a night tour of Sanitago with English speaking guide. Drinks and food during the tour are not included in the price of the program.

Day 15 SANTIAGO - YOUR COUNTRY
Breakfast at the hotel. Our guide will be available to take you to lunch before taking you to the airport for your return flight. (B)
